Two of The Super 6 Club’s finest, F4t Txne and Zepeda, unite on an enticing six track collection. Boasting bright, summery production on every one of its songs, SpringCleaning is an essential listen for any rap fan feeling the quarantine blues.
Txne’s rapping is ludicrously smooth, he glides so effortlessly over these beats that I wouldn’t be surprised if they were specifically crafted for him. Txne has the edge in his voice to make his raps a little more aggressive (see ‘Word’), yet also possesses a vulnerable side (see ‘No Emotion’). His blunted, melodically-tinged rapping style should be considered the archetype of a well-balanced MC, the way in which he transitions from a frantic, upbeat delivery on opener ‘6 Club Anthem’ to a more charisma-fueled, easy-going flow on ‘Geeeekin’ is evidence enough in my eyes.
Zepeda deserves enormous credit for the production here, he really outdid himself with these dense, melodic beats that plunge deeper and deeper into a mystical nether realm the longer that the project runs on. ‘No Emotion’ is his finest work here, the fading glossiness of the synths evoking some of his recent work with Astral Trap. Txne and Zepeda make one hell of a team, and while these six songs are immensely gratifying with only twelve minutes of content on display I’m desperately yearning for more.
