A slow-burning pop-trap tune, ‘Let You Down’ is the latest collaboration between Dreamstar members Yxng E and FXLLEN.
Having recently explored the realms of dancehall in his music, Yxng E has offered up something closer to the style found on his first project The Takeover with his latest cut. FXLLEN’s performance on the track comes in the form of a crisp, robotic hook, it’s clear that his songwriting proficiency has only increased since the release of his Outlast project earlier in the year. Yxng E meanwhile delivers a passionate verse, his beautiful singing voice carrying the song to incredibly soulful territory. When he joins FXLLEN on the final hook, he employs gorgeous harmonies that result in one of the strongest collaborative moments in the duo’s discography. YZ’s production is as effective as it was throughout Outlast, his beat proving to be a perfect atmospheric backdrop for the two wildly different vocal styles on display here.
This song is highly recommended as a starting point for both artists, each have contributed heavily to their respective discographies this year and ‘Let You Down’ will undoubtedly prove to be a highlight of each. Listen to the song here.
