$econd Nature are back with their second offering of 2020: a darker, heavier set of tracks perfect for exercising frustration at the evil world that we currently inhabit.
Sonically, this is the group’s cleanest sound to date. ‘Bang’ is absolutely huge, a vindictive anthem for the downtrodden that doesn’t relent even slightly on each of its earth-shattering verses. ’S.O.S.’ sees the rap trio experiment with autotune, while ‘Reign in Dirt’ is rooted in phonk samples and Bone Thugs flows. Cam Kron remains the standout rapper, but each MC more than proves their worth here. VCIDHIGH has by far the best verse on the occultish ‘Tres Diablos’, while Chew mops up satisfyingly on the closer ‘No Where To Run’.
There’s a few collaborators to be found here, too, and they’re totally welcomed. ‘Soul Collector’ is a grimy posse cut perfect for the Halloween season, each verse descending deeper into a sordid horrorcore hole. War in Hell is a slightly longer project than September’s Season 1, but with each song amping the intensity up to 11 it’s clear that the group made the right decision by including seven tracks here. If you’re a fan of hard-hitting trap with horror undertones and still haven’t check these guys out, this will be the perfect place to start in their discography.
