The newest tape from rapper KDR and producer Gorgeonstars solidifies the chemistry between the two artists.
The diversity of the tracks here is impressive, for sure. Opener ‘Shark’ is an ominous-sounding intro with The Exorcist-esque pianos and muddy percussion, while ‘Fly’ is closer to cloud rap with its futuristic-sounding synths. Gorgeonstars really displayed his worth as a producer on this project, and with such an adept rapper by his side I’m sure the duo will go on to make even greater music than this some day.
KDR’s ultra-dry delivery is incredibly charming, his voice proving to be an impressively malleable tool when rapping over beats like ‘Fly’ and the hazy closer ‘ThousandzOfWayz’. The latter song best displays KDR’s melodic proficiency, his mini-hooks are real earworms while also sending a positive message to listeners. ‘Sorryyy’ continues further down this stylistic path, KDR displays an above average singing voice as Gorgeonstars adapts his production style to suit the whimsical tone of the song.
