Andrew Tran caught my attention about a year ago with his lofty single ‘bedroom walls’. I was absolutely entranced by the clean flow of raw emotion and the elegance that graced each song I discovered. His honest, melodic ballads have kept me coming back for each new release as he continues to sharpen his sound. His latest single ‘2fast’ has quickly become one of my favorites amongst his catalog of signature cloud rap-esque creations. Dedicated to refining his craft, ‘2fast’ showcases Tran’s ability to evolve as an artist while keeping your heart right where it started.
A zany guitar takes off, a complimenting 808 joining in with echoes of a melodic chorus to come, and we’re once again greeted by the effortlessly confident flow that Tran has seemingly perfected. His ability to construct concise, memorable choruses filled with emotional vulnerability through the use of his vocals is outstanding. I must admit that this softer, instrumental release is not something I’m used to hearing from him, but this well-crafted hybrid clearly showcases an evolution from his earlier releases.
An underlying message of remaining strong and hopeful echoes throughout the chorus, providing a refreshing outlook for listeners to reflect on. Tran has perfected the art of packing inspiration into each release, and I’m always excited to see where it takes him next as an artist.
